What is a skill?

A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file. At the top is a short header (name and description). Below it are the instructions: when to use it, the steps, templates, safety rules and how to know it's done.

The agent reads the description, and when your request matches, it loads and follows the full file. That's how one agent can know dozens of jobs without getting confused.

Skills are an open format (Anthropic's Agent Skills spec, agentskills.io). The same file works in Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Grok Bot; only the folder it lives in changes.
